Maria Anna Najera Lira of Uvalde passed away on December 29, 2018 in San Antonio at the age of 72. She was born on April 16, 1946 in Raymondville, Texas to Margarito and Cristina (Mendoza) Najera.
Maria married Juan Lira in Uvalde on May 9, 1970.
She is survived by her daughters, Cristina Lira Villarreal and husband, Guadalupe of Uvalde, Virginia Lira of Uvalde, Angelita Lira Brumley and husband, Donald Paul and Juanita Lira all of Moses Lake, Washington; sons, Paulo Lira and Domingo Lira and wife, Maria Yolanda all of Uvalde; sisters, Aurora Gracia of Belton, Consuelo Najera , San Juana Chavez both of Uvalde, Ninfa Najera of Georgia; brothers, Margarito Najera, II of California, Manuel Najera of Georgia, Jesse Najera, Sr. of Uvalde, Enrique Najera of Raymondville, and James Najera of Uvalde; 9 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; daughter, Maria Louisa Lira and daughter in law Ernestina S. Lira.
A rosary will be held on Monday and Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.
