Maria Flores

Maria Magdalena Ruiz Flores, 81 of Uvalde died on January 12, 2016 at Methodist Hospital in San Antonio. She was born on December 24, 1934 in Hondo, Texas to Pedro Sanchez Ruiz and Vidala Cardona Ruiz. She was the fourth of six children. She comes from humble home beginnings. Her family migrated up north and endured hard working conditions in the fields. She raised three sons, and one daughter. She was dedicated to her family, church and faith. She was a faithful member of Templo Cristiano, where she served in many areas including: Deaconess, Women's ministries president, board member, Royal Ranger committee member, and Missionettes teacher. She was a wonderful virtuous woman of God, leaving a legacy of love, honesty, faithfulness, righteousness, kindness, integrity, diligence and an amazing work ethic.
She will be greatly missed but we can almost hear her say "Ya estoy con mi Senor y salvador" (I am finally home with my Lord and Savior). Prayer services will be held Thursday and Friday night at Rushing- Estes- Knowles Mortuary. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 16th at 3:00 pm at Templo Cristiano Assembly of God church at 219 N. Park Street. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Ninfa Ruiz and Esther Ruiz, one brother Juan Ruiz, one son, Samuel Flores and one nephew Ruben Ruiz, Sr. She is survived by one daughter, Genesia Gonzales and husband Joe, two sons, Francisco Flores Jr. and Ismael Flores, one sister, Martha Ruiz, one sister-in-law, Ramona Ruiz and one daughter in law, Sulema Flores all of Uvalde, nine grandchildren, Victoria Lynn Lawson, Alexander Ismael Flores, Nicholas Victor Flores, Nathan Samuel Flores, Tesia Ann Flores, Karloz Samuel Castillo, Kaleb Misael Castillo, Kaitlyn Vidalia Castillo, and Knoah Joe Gonzales, and two great-grandchildren, Melody Flores and Demitrius Lawson.
