Maria Ruiz

Maria Mancha Ruiz of Uvalde passed away on June 4, 2023, at Uvalde Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center at the age of 83.

Visitation will begin on Monday, June 12, 2023, at 12 p.m. followed by a rosary at 7 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary.  A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at 2 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with interment to follow at Hillcrest Cemetery. 

She was born on October 22, 1939, in Uvalde to Genoveva (Sifuentez) and Cleto Mancha. 

She married Acension Ruiz in Uvalde on May 5, 1956.

She is survived by her daughter, Diane Velasquez of Uvalde; son, Joe G. Ruiz and wife, Ada of Castroville; two sisters, Refugia Aguilar of Arlington, and Josefina Cervantez of Uvalde; brother, Cleto Mancha of Wisconsin; 12 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

She is preceded in death by her husband; daughter, Bertha Alicia Garcia; two sons, Bobby Ruiz, and Acension Ruiz, Jr., two sisters, Anastacia Mancha, and Tina Rangel; three brothers, Evaristo Mancha, Juan Mancha and Edwardo Mancha. 

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Alfred Velasquez, Jr., Frankie Velasquez, Ruben Garcia, Carlos Garcia, Jacob Garcia and Sergio Ruiz. Honorary pallbearers will be Laura Ruiz, Josh Ruiz, Jon Garcia, and Nana Velasquez.
