Marie Heard

Marie Wentworth Heard of Uvalde passed away on June 18, 2009 in Amistad Nursing Home at the age of 98. She was born on August 28, 1910 in Utopia, Texas to John and Christine Haby Wentworth. She married Byron P. Heard on September 1, 1940 in Uvalde, Texas. Mrs. Heard worked for Uvalde County and helped her husband with ranching for many years. She worked for the Uvalde Leader-News for over 25 years. Mrs. Heard was a member of the El Progreso Club and the Life Training Sunday School Class at First United Methodist Church. She is survived by one nephew; George W. Eiband and wife, Cecilia of Houston, Texas; one niece; Shirley Ann Steigerwald and husband, Pete of Concan, Texas; numerous great nieces and great nephews. She worked for Uvalde County; helped husband with ranching, and worked at the Leader News for over 25 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; step-father; Armin Rothe; two sisters; Margaret Behrens and Alice Eiband; and one brother; Frank Wentworth. Graveside services will be held on Monday, June 22, 2009 at 6:00 PM in Uvalde Cemetery. Rev. Scott Bradford will officiate.
