Marjetta Evelyn (Thompson) Story passed away at Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, Texas on June 14, 2022, at the age of 83.
She was born to Floyd E and Oaty (Fairweather) Thompson on August the 5, 1938 in Lovington New Mexico. She lived in Clovis, New Mexico until she was 12 years old. Throughout her childhood they lived in Tucumari, New Mexico, Herford Texas, and Lockney Texas. Eventually moving back to Lovington, New Mexico where she graduated in 1956 from Lovington High School.
Marjetta then attended Austin College in Sherman, Texas and worked in Dallas. She also attended Mary Hardin Baylor and graduated with a bachelor’s in science of education in 1962.
She married Richard D. Story on November 21, 1962, in Des Moines, Iowa and taught for 7 years there. The family moved to Texas in 1972 and Mrs. Story taught in Sabinal for 27 years. She retired in May 1999. She was an active member in the First United Methodist Church in Sabinal and loved to travel. Marjetta enjoyed working with clay, crewe embroidery, needlepoint, cross stitch, painting and working with stained glass.
Marjetta is survived by her husband, Richard D. Story of Sabinal; sons, Richard D. Story, Jr. and wife, Kelli of Tacoma, Washington, Gregory Story and husband, Clarke Miller of Chicago, Illinois, and Michael Story and wife, Katie of Uvalde; daughter, Lisa Story of Algonquin, Illinois; grandchildren, Nicole Story, Rick Story, Amanda Story, Audrey Story, Dalton Haughey and wife, Kersa, Tatum Story, and Marlowe Bueler and husband, Tristan; and great grandchildren, Alfred Haughey, Larsen Haughey, Alex Story and Rick Story
Pallbearers will be Sid Clary, Greg Bales, Curtis Stewart, Jason Cole, Kenneth Cole, and Don Snyder
Honorary pallbearers will be Gerry Shudde and Al Haughey
Visitation will be held at 10:00 am, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am. on Monday June 20, 2022 at the First United Methodist Church in Sabinal.
Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Sabinal, Sabinal EMS or the charity of your choice.
