Marvin Verstuyft

The world lost a beloved husband, father, and farmer. Marvin George Verstuyft, 74, passed away on Wednesday June 11 at his family farm in Knippa, Texas. He was preceded in death by his father George G. Verstuyft and Mother Irma Van Ovendenborger Verstuyft.
Dad grew up in San Antonio, TX farming alongside his parents and brother. He started his education at St John Berchmans Catholic School and completed high school at South San ISD. He was a founding member of the Belgium American Club of Texas.
Dad married his high school sweetheart Merlynn Broom they were happily married 52 years. In 1983 he moved his family to Knippa to expand his farming operation. In Knippa he developed his homestead and lifelong relationships.
Dad was a hard worker who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and farming the right way. Many mornings Dad started his day by visiting the local Knippa Coop and then it was off to the recycling center. He was multitalented in many trades and he enjoyed refurbishing, creating, and repairing his many projects. Dad loved to work in the barn, along with his constant companions his precious puppies, on his new found treasures.
He is survived by his loving wife Merlynn Verstuyft of Knippa, TX. His son Jeffery Verstuyft of Knippa, TX, and his Daughters Jeanette Verstuyft, Colleen Richter Duane, Amy Bellanger Jarod, and grandchild Meghan Howard all of San Antonio, TX. His brother Roger Verstuyft Patsy, and his sister Sharon Eisenhauer Kenneth.
The family will be greeting friends and relatives on Monday June 16, 5pm at RushingEstesKnowles Mortuary, 220 S. Getty St, Uvalde, TX 78801. The Rosary will follow at 7pm. Funeral services will be held at 10:30am on Tuesday 17 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 408 Clark Rd, Uvalde, TX 78801.
