In 1981 she graduated from SWTJC with her LVN degree. She worked at Uvalde Memorial Hospital for several years, and was also a visiting nurse.
Mary was a volunteer with the EMS for the city of Sabinal. She was involved with the Sabinal Civic Club, and she was a member of DAR.
Mary and Elton were long time members of Sabinal Supper Club and loved getting together with friends.
Mary was active in the First Baptist Church of Sabinal, where her husband served as a deacon for several years.
Mary is survived by her husband of 64 years, Elton Burns. She is also survived by her son Andy Burns and wife, Pat, of Kerrville; daughter Margie Hithersay and husband, Stan, of Hickory Creek; daughter Barbara Howse and husband, Greg, of Fairview.
