Mary Elizabeth Tucker Coggins went to be with our Lord and precious loved ones that had gone on before her on May 30, 2015 of natural causes in Georgetown, Texas at the age of 85.
She was born on December 14, 1929 in Crosby, Texas to Mary Ann and Arlie Ruben Tucker. Elizabeth is preceded in death by her parents and her older brother Warren who died in WWII. She graduated from high school in 1948 in Raymondville, Texas, attended Texas A&I in Kingsville, Texas, received her Teaching degree at Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos, and went on to receive her Master's degree as a Special Education Teacher at Incarnate Word College and Sul Ross University.
She is survived by her three children-Toby Coggins and his wife Elaine, of Del Rio, Texas; Susan Awalt and her husband Jim, of Lago Vista, Texas; and Nancy Konzen and her husband John of Salado, Texas; five grandchildren- Hunter Konzen and his wife Jessica, Johnna Garcia and her husband Robbie, Justin Konzen, Toby (Tobito) Coggins, and Bess Coggins as well as four great-grandchildren.
Elizabeth was a lifelong learner, Teacher, and world traveler and will be remembered by her family and loved ones for her cooking and entertaining, a quick wit, and her interest in nature and beauty. Elizabeth taught in Crystal City, Texas for 17 years, in Uvalde, Texas for 17 years, and in La Pryor, Texas for another 17 years. She made many "bucket list" trips over the years that included trips to China, Russia, Europe, and places beyond with her friends, her children, and her grandchildren. Elizabeth loved her time in Crystal City, the Nueces River, and her membership in the Athena Study Club-- a member to the end. She moved to Uvalde permanently, in 1998, where she continued to be active in civic clubs and enjoyed friendships she made along the way, especially Thursday nights at the Uvalde Country Club.
The family would like to thank the entire staff of Hospice Austin for their loving care of our Mother and invaluable assistance to us. Also, our thanks to the ladies of the Athena Study Club and all friends who kept us in their thoughts and prayers.
