Mary Lou DSpain of Utopia passed away on January 16, 2010 in Medina Valley Health Rehab Center in Castroville, TX at the age of 83. She was born on May 31, 1926 in Mereta, TX to Fayette Elbert and Mamie Blackmon Eckert. She was the third of four daughters and was known as her dads Tomboy. She married France Mark DSpain on May 22, 1944 in Menard, TX. They lived outside of London, TX for most of their married life, raising their five children on the family farm. Following the death of France DSpain, she married his brother, Henry Lee DSpain, Sr. in Junction, TX on April 28, 1965. Soon after, they moved to the ranch on Anglin Creek near Utopia along with her four youngest children. They lived and worked there many years before moving into Utopia in the mid80s. Throughout the years, Mary Lou was active in many school and community organizations including Utopia Garden Club and as a volunteer in the communitys library in its early stages. During the 70s and the 90s she owned a couple of businesses in Utopia. She was active in the work of the church and had a gret passion for singing gospel songs. God and family were the main priorities of her life. She dearly loved her grandchildren and in later years treasured visits from her greatgrandbabies. Mary Lou will be forever loved and missed by her family. She is survived by a sister, Althea Mae Thomas and husband, Fred of Amarillo children, Mark DSpain and wife, Lynn Mollie DSpain Erma Starr and husband, Greg and Nancy Jones husband, Shan, all of Utopia and Lynn DSpain and wife, Maria of Sabinal 19 grandchildren and 30 greatgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents both husbands two sisters, Eldera Mallory and Dorothy Smith and an infant greatgrandson, Cody Elton Parker. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at 12:30 PM at the Utopia Church of Christ. Burial will be in the Little Saline Cemetery, London, TX Tuesday at 3:30 PM. Mr. George Keelin will officiate. Pallbearers will be grandsons, France DSpain Ace DSpain Howie Vicars Lee Jones, Andy Schaefer and Derick DSpain.
