Mary Lucille Willis Gallaway came into this world in February 25, 1934 in Utopia, Texas. She departed this world on November 14, 2012, at home surrounded by her family that loved her dearly. Mary is remembered for her wonderful cooking, kind heart, and loving nature. She retired from the Uvalde Consolidated Independent school district where she, prior to retirement was the manager of the High School Cafeteria. While there she loved the kids and bought many a kid lunch when they didnt have money. Every where she went she would see a former student who would remember the kindness, stop speak and offer a hug. That was her return payment, and she was rich
She is preceded in death by her Husband of 58 years, Clarence B. Gallaway, her father and mother, Roy and Irene Stanfield, Sister, Lois Caraway, as well as several dear Uncles and Aunts.
Mary Gallaway, is survived by her loving and devoted sisters, Jeri Woolf and husband Milton, June Stevens, and Leona Swafford, one brother,Jimmy Willis, as well as sisterinlaw Lou Gallaway, brotherinlaw Van Lilley, and brotherinlaw Jim Gallaway and wife Joyce. She is also survived by numerous nieces , nephews, and cousins.
Missing their Mama will be her children, Brenda Carter and husband Richard Carter of Uvalde, Michael D. Gallaway and wife Carmen of DeQueen, Arkansas, Janie Anderson and husband Michael Anderson of Alice, Texas , and Amy Coleman of Houston, Texas. Other special people in her life, whom she loved as her own were: Renee Gallaway Wexler and husband Lowell , Rebecca Wyner and husband Robert, and Wayne Cahours and his wife Helen.
Missing their Granny are grandchildren Jacob Douglas Postert, Clayton Postert, and Caleb Carter, Michael Gallaway , and Patrick Gallaway, Austin, Aaron, and Andrea Anderson, Blake, Luke, Reagan, Cooper, and Max Coleman, and Chaz Bowman. Great grandchildren are Cindy and Scott Gallaway and Breanna Belle and Jacob Douglas Postert, Samuel Clayton Postert, and Nicholas and Katrianna Zgourides
The family expresses sincere appreciation to Hospice, and the staff at the Radiation Center as well as the Cancer Center. We were fortunate to have the facility in Uvalde so we didnt have to travel to San Antonio to receive valuable treatment. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Uvalde Hospice or a charity of your choice.
Mary was laid to rest on Friday November 16, 2012 at 3:00 PM in the chapel at Rushing, Estes, Knowles Funeral Chapel, with graveside in the Hillcrest Memorial Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends and on Thursday, November 15, 2012 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.. Officiated by Paul Stephens. Pallbearers are Jacob, Clayton, Caleb, Patrick, Michael, Austin, Aaron, Blake, and Andrea. Honorary Pallbearers are Luke, Reagan, Cooper, Max Coleman, and Nicholas Zgourides . Wishing they could help are Breanna, Jake, Katrina and Sam as well as Jimmy Contreras and Mark A. Contreras Jr.
