Mary Jean Alley of Carrizo Springs, passed away on December 10 at Uvalde Memorial at the age of 75. She was born on November 28, 1948, to Lee Roy and Gladyne (Davis) Alley in Uvalde, Texas
Mary Jean was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, James L. Alley; and sister-in-law, Mary Ann Alley.
Mary Jean is survived by one brother, Roy Alley of Carrizo Springs; one sister-in-law, Kathy Alley of Austin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mary Jean contracted the polio virus at 9 months of age. High fever and other afflictions of this virus left her brain damaged, blind and limping when she learned to walk. She never got over the maturity of a six year old child.
Children and animals always gravitated towards her. She was also sensitive about others feelings more than most of us. She could throw a tantrum like a child if she didn’t get what she wanted, but never consciously was hurtful to anyone. Her idea of a great time was having a kitten or a puppy on her lap and sitting with the little children in her family. She enjoyed listening to cartoons or bible stories from recordings.
She was our “family’s angel”. God bless her and keep her in your kingdom of love and peace.
Visitation will begin on Thursday, December 15 at 2 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 16 at 10 a.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary with interment to follow at Uvalde City Cemetery
