Mary Mcclendon

Mary Virginia Lewis McClendon of Uvalde passed away on September 21, 2010 in Vistas Hospice in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 81. She was born on February 16, 1929 in Uvalde, Texas to Olen and Gladys Lewis. She married Frank John McClendon in Uvalde, Texas on April 17, 1951. She is survived by one daughter Lauralea Bauer and husband, Douglas of Manor, Texas one son Mark McClendon and wife, Denise of Boerne, Texas one sister Ann Lea of New Braunfels, Texas four grandchildren Kara McClendon Jon M. Bell Brittany Bell and Darryl A. Bauer one sisterinlaw, Ella Mae McCelendon of Houston numerous nieces and nephews and very special friends. She was a member of the Uvalde Memorial Hospital Auxiliary Volunteers Retired Teachers Association Catholic Womens Club and the Red Hatters Society. McClendon is a Uvalde High School graduate. She also graduated from St. Joseph School of Nursing in Houston in 1950. She was employed as a registered nurse in hospitals and the Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District until retirement. She participated in the Relay for Life as a cancer survivor. McClendon was diagnosed with four diffrent types of cancers. She was preceded in death by her parents husband Frank McClendon and infant daughter Melanie Rose McClendon. A rosary will be held on Thursday at 7:00 PM at RushingEstesKnowles Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Friday September 24, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial to follow in Hillcrest Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Joe Howard, Roy Joe Howard, Roy Kothmann, Mario Gonzalez, Charlie Ham, and Manza Hale. Honorary pallbearers will be Uvalde Volunteer Fire Department.
