Matilde Ortiz

Matilde DeLeon Ortiz of Uvalde passed away on January 12, 2008 in San Antonio at the age of 92. She was born on March 14, 1915 in Montell, TX to Guadalupe and Eluteria De Leon. She married Santos Ortiz in Camp Wood. He preceded her in death on July 25, 1976. She is survived by three daughters, Lali Hernandez of Uvalde; Frances Maldonado of San Antonio; and Maria Mata Ortiz of Turlot, California; two sons, Isabel Ortiz of Eagle Pass, TX; and Rodolfo Ortiz of Jefferson, Wisconsin; 54 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; three daughters, Sylvia Diaz, Mercedes Chapa, and Ramona Ortiz; and a son, Tomas Ortiz. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 14, 2008, at 3:00 PM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial to follow in Hillcrest Cemetery. A rosary will be held on Sunday, January 13, 2008 at 7:00 PM at the Rushing-Estes-Knowles Chapel.
