Matthew Gobert

Matt Gobert of Utopia, TX born to Milton and Pat Gobert of Utopia, TX. Passed away on October 3, 2021 in San Antonio, TX at Methodist Metropolitan Hospital.  Matt had a joy for life and enjoyed being surrounded by his family and friends. Matt loved an adventure and often you could find him out on the lake. Matt had a sense of humor that could make anyone laugh. We will always remember him for his big heart and kind smile. Matt was preceded in death by son Dustin Gobert, grandparents Milton Gobert Sr. & Mary Gobert, uncle, Jimmy Gobert, and niece Kimber Moore.
Matt is survived by parents. Milton & Pat Gobert of Utopia; son, Cody Gobert and wife, Jenny of Utopia; daughter, Shelby Barfield  and husband, Zach of Utopia; sister, Valerie Moore and husband, Ernie of Utopia; brother, Monty Gobert and wife, Gaynell  of Utopia; grandchildren, Solomon Gobert, Grayson Barfield, Noah Gobert, and Myles Barfield; nieces and nephews, Kelsey Moore and fiancé, Colby Stephens, Kristin & Nathan Neill, Chase Gobert and Katelynne Brown, and Jake Gobert; numerous great nieces and nephews; longtime friend, Elizabeth Milam of Sabinal; uncle and aunt, Eddie & Debbie Howard of Highlands; close family, Bill Payton, Carol Payton, and Ethan Diechler all of Utopia and numerous close friends and family.

A graveside service will be held Friday, October 8, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Jones Cemetery in Utopia, Texas.

Honorary pallbearers will be Eddie Howard, Ty Howard, Dallas Howard, Cobey Keith, Jody Rutherford, Jimmy Speer, Clay Knuckles, Ralph Perez, Mark “Bubba” Owens, John Casparis, Todd Wilson, his fishing buddies and Steer Committee Family.
