Matthew Emmett (M. E.) O'Neill, Jr., of Lubbock formerly a resident of Falfurrias and Uvalde died March 26, 2016. He was born February 8, 1922 in Frisco, TX to Matthew Emmett and Willie Alta O'Neill. He was a lifelong missionary and pastor. Survivors include three sons, Tom O'Neill and wife Laura of Mitchell, SD, Larry O'Neill and wife Andrea of Lubbock, Texas, and Maurice O'Neill and wife Janet of Fayette, Missouri; two daughters, Nancy Wilson and husband Billy of Premont, Texas, and Kathy Clardy and husband David of Malakoff, Texas; a sister, Gwen Beckham of San Angelo, Texas, and a brother, Robert O'Neill and wife Betty, of San Antonio, Texas; grandchildren Jennifer O'Neill of Nashville, TN, Matthew O'Neill and wife Lora of Garland, TX, Daniel O'Neill and wife Beth of Smyrna, TN, Stephanie Lee and husband Chip of Grand Prairie, TX, Jeffrey Smith of Corpus Christi, TX, Glen Smith of Kingsville, TX, Jonathan O'Neill of Lubbock, TX, Michael O'Neill and wife Brenna of Fayette, MO, Valerie Smith of Corpus Christi, TX, Andrew O'Neill of Fayette, MO, and five great-grandchildren Gene, Amanda, Emmy, Derek, and Keegan, numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. O'Neill was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Laura "Sister" Gardner O'Neill. A funeral service was held at Baptist Temple Church at 10 a.m. on March 30, 2016. Burial followed at Hope Cemetery in Carrizo Springs. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the charity of your choice or Baptist Temple Church (620 E. Main St. Uvalde, TX 78801).
