Miguel G. Salazar, Sr. of Uvalde passed away on December 12, 2018 at his residence at the age of 74. He was born on June 18, 1944 in Uvalde to Jesus and Andrea (Gutierrez) Salazar. He married Elvira Vaquera on June 8, 1968 in Uvalde.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years of Uvalde; daughter, Christina Alonzo and husband, Jaime of Uvalde; sons, Miguel G. Salazar, Jr. of Austin and Frank Salazar and wife, Arely of Uvalde; sisters, Maria Castillo of Temple, Lupe Garcia of La Pryor, Linda Salazar,Pura Salazar both of Phoenix, Arizona, and Gloria Pesina of Brownwood; brothers, Armando Salazar , Juan Salazar both of Uvalde, Joe Salazar of Hondo, Luis Salazar, Johnny Salazar both of Uvalde, and Omero Salazar Phoenix, Arizona; grandchildren, Cierra J. Alonzo of Uvalde, Alyssandra A. Salazar of Austin, Frank I. Salazar,II, Leah I. Salazar, and Aliana F. Salazar all of Uvalde.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Jesse G. Salazar.
Pallbearers will be Juan Salazar, Joe Salazar, Luis Salazar, Johnny Salazar, Robert Padilla and Joe Fernandez.
Honorary pallbearers will be Omero Salazar and Armando Salazar.
Visitation will begin on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. A rosary will be held on Saturday and Sunday at 7:00 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, December 17, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.
