Nolberto Gutierrez Hernandez (Beto) of Uvalde passed away at Uvalde Memorial Hospital on October 28, 2018 at the age of 65. Beto was born on May 29, 1953 in Uvalde to Juan and Eulalia (Gutierrez) Hernandez.
He married Albesa "Betty" Carbajal on April 8, 1974 in Uvalde.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years; daughter, Maricela A. Hernandez; 3 grandchildren, Emily Grace Martinez, Charles Martinez II and Avery Rose Martinez; brother, Valdomero Hernandez; sisters, Linda Gonzalez and husband, Mario Robles, Teresa Castillo and husband, Hector, Esperanza Trevino and husband, Michael, Esmeralda Uribe and husband, Antonio, Vicky Gallegos and husband, Gonzalo all of Uvalde.
Beto was preceded in death by both his parents; daughter, Jessica Hernandez; granddaughter, Jenika Polanco; brothers, Juan Manuel Hernandez Jr., Marcos Hernandez and half-brother Juan Luis Hernandez.
Beto will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather to all those he loved. Beto easily made many friends and always made everyone smile and laugh with his great sense of humor. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and loved barbequing all while watching his grandchildren grow. Beto retired from the city of Uvalde with 34 years of excellent service in 2006. He was loved by all and will be deeply missed, we will remember his smile forever in our hearts.
A rosary will be held on Tuesday October 30th at 7:00 p.m. at Rushing Estes Knowles Mortuary. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday October 31, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Alberto Mireles, Juan Zamora, Bobby Padilla, Ruben Flores, Juan Martinez and Valdomero Hernandez. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Martinez II, Emily Grace Martinez and Avery Martinez.
