Norma Hidalgo

Norma Menchaca Hidalgo of Uvalde passed away on January 22, 2018 at Methodist Hospital in San Antonio at the age of 78. She was born on June 25, 1939 in Uvalde, Texas to Santos and Serapia (Trevino) Menchaca, Sr. She married Francisco Hidalgo, Sr. on January 8, 1961 in Uvalde.
She was a teacher at Uvalde CISD for over 33 years and was part of the Uvalde Classroom Association and The Texas State Teacher Association.
She is survived by her husband of Uvalde; daughter, Sarah Hidalgo Cook and husband, Kevin of Uvalde; son, Frank Hidalgo, Jr. and wife, Dawne of Newnan, Georgia; brother, Benjamin Menchaca of Crystal City; grandchildren, Ryan Michael Hidalgo, David Anthony Hidalgo, Daniel James Hidalgo, Sierah Alexis Cook and Gabrielle Elise Cook; great grandson, Jaxon Levi Hidalgo and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Santos T. Menchaca, Jr. and Isaias Menchaca; and sister, Gloria Menchaca Robles.
Visitation will be held on Thursday beginning at 2:00 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. A prayer service will be held on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 26, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at La Divina Trinidad Methodist Church, 736 S. Getty St, Uvalde. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Norma M. Hidalgo to La Divina Trinidad Methodist Church, POB 5335, Uvalde, Texas 78802.
