Ofelia Gonzales

Mrs. Ofelia A. Gonzales of Uvalde passed away on March 30, 2008 in Uvalde Memorial Hospital at the age of 80. She was born on February 5, 1928 in Batesville, TX to Miguel and Isabel Aviles. She married Alejandro C. Gonzales in Uvalde on July 15, 1951. She is survived by her husband of 56 years; two sons, Alejandro Gonzales III and wife, Sandra of Uvalde; and Alfredo Gonzales and wife, Sulema of Castroville; one brother, Jose Aviles, Sr. of Uvalde; five grandchildren, Leslie Ann Luna; Javier A. Gonzales; Matthew Gonzales; Patrick Gonzales; and Ana Alicia Gonzales; two great-grandchildren, Xandria and Sebastian Perez. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Reynol, Miguel, and Leopoldo Aviles; and three sisters, Ester Aviles, Celia Sifuentes, and Maria del Refugia Cuca Barrera. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 1, 2008, at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial to follow in Hillcrest Cemetery. Fr. Anthony Mendoza will officiate. Pallbearers will be Matthew Gonzales, Lee Flores, John Flores, John Aviles, Roy Barrera, Mike Aviles, Richard Hill, and Friaco Hidalgo.
