Olga Lozano

Olga S. Lozano, a devoted wife and mother of 4, passed away peacefully in her home in Uvalde on February 11, 2017 at the age of 72 in Uvalde, Texas. She was born in La Pryor on June 2, 1944 to Roman T. and Herlinda (Roman) Salazar.
She was an adoring daughter who helped her family until marriage. She married Manuel Z. Lozano in Uvalde on February 26, 1970. After dedicating her life to her four children, she earned her GED. She then attended South West Texas Junior College where she received her Associates of Arts degree with Phi Beta Kappa honors in 1992, all while fighting her battle with breast cancer. Olga was a cancer survivor for the next 22 years. .
Olga is survived by her husband of 46 years, of Uvalde; daughters, Velma Lisa Duran and husband, Eufemio, Jr. of San Antonio, Irma Linda Garcia and husband, Joey, and Marissa Lozano all of Uvalde; son, Marcos Manuel Lozano and fiancé, Lisa Marie Micheletti of San Antonio; sisters, Martha Garcia and Maria Nevarez both of Uvalde; brother, Roman Salazar and wife, Dolores of Uvalde; grandchildren, Tres Duran, Estevan Mateo Duran, Cristian Antonio Garcia, Jose Alejandro Garcia, Lyliana Analyse Garcia, Alysandra Celeste Garcia, Christopher Andrew Cordova, and Juliana Christine Lozano.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and sister, Irma Salazar.
She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her. Our mother was a strong and wonderful woman who can never be replaced. We have been blessed with amazing and supportive families who have helped us through this journey. We would like to thank Dr. Gregory Guzley, Dr. Sosa, Cheryl Rabe and the gracious staff at Uvalde Hospice for providing excellent care for our loving mother.
And with a special appreciation to our kind father, Manuel Z. Lozano, our aunts, Martha Garcia, and Maria Nevarez for dedicating their lives to our mothers care in her final days. There are no words to express our love and gratitude. God has truly blessed us with a beautiful family.
A rosary will be held on Wednesday and Thursday at 7:00 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, February 17, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Marcus Manuel Lozano, Christopher Andrew Cordova, Tres Duran, Estevan Mateo Duran, Cristian Antonio Garcia, Jose Alejandro Garcia, Eufemio Duran, Jr., and Joey Antonio Garcia.
