Olga Cardona Zamora of Uvalde passed away on April 4, 2016 at Amistad Nursing Home in Uvalde at the age of 71. She was born on December 31, 1944 in Uvalde to Armando and Manuela (Alvarez) Cardona. She married Hilberto F. Zamora on October 3, 1965 in Uvalde. She is survived by her sons, Hilberto Zamora Jr. and partner Gricelda Salinas of Uvalde; Javier Zamora and partner, Casey Tully of San Antonio and Jaime Zamora and wife Marissa of Las Cruces, New Mexico; sister, Cleo Hernandez of Uvalde; brothers, Rojelio Cardona and Armando Cardona both of Uvalde; grandchildren, Jaime D. Zamora, Breanna Zamora, Alyssanda Zamora, Adan Zamora, Gilbert Zamora III, Olga Salinas and Jay Salinas. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and brother, Amaro Cardona.
Olga was employed by the El Progresso Memorial Library. Her passion was serving the community. With her tenure of 54 years at the library she developed many friendships throughout her lifetime. Olga was knowledgeable and thrived in sharing her love and respect for the place that was a second home to her. She always welcomed all with a friendly smile and willingness to help those that visited the library. The library staff was her second family. Olga will be missed and the love she felt for the library will be a legacy for many years.
A rosary will be held on Wednesday and Thursday at 7:00 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, April 8, 2016 at 11:0 0 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will be held at Hillcrest Cemetery.
