Otis Wayne Canion

Wayne (O.W.) Canion of Utopia, TX passed away on June 13, 2023 at the age of 94. He was born on January 31, 1929 in San Antonio, TX to Randal Mack Canion and Nellie Mae Schoolie. He went to school in Utopia, TX where he graduated, later moving to San Antonio to work for Southwestern Bell Telephone.

He married Virginia (Ginger) Haby on April 22, 1950. They lived in San Antonio for many years until Wayne retired from Southwestern Bell on April 1, 1984. They moved back to Utopia and have lived there since. While there, Wayne was active in the community being a part of the Utopia Lions Club, the Utopia Food Pantry and the Senior Citizens Community. He loved golf and baseball and even played baseball internationally with an exchange team in New Zealand.

Wayne is survived by his wife of 73 years, Ginger Canion. He is also survived by his son Michael Canion, daughter Sharon Lindholm and daughter Denise Gaylord. Additionally, he is survived by his brother Leo Canion. Wayne has 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren who all love him greatly.

A Rosary service will be held on June 17^th at 9:00am at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Vanderpool, TX. A funeral Mass will follow at 10:00am, also at the church. Graveside services will immediately follow at the Vanderpool Cemetery.

Wayne's grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. They are Wayne Rodriguez, Casey Canion, Brian Rodriguez, Todd Canion, Austin Gaylord and Kyle Gaylord.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Utopia EMS or the Utopia Fire Department.
