Padgett Wayne Montgomery

Padgett Wayne Montgomery, Sr, age 89, passed away peacefully, on Friday, August 2, 2024. He was born in Greenville, Texas on September 13, 1934 to Padgett C. Montgomery and Elizabeth Henderson Montgomery. He graduated from Uvalde High School in 1951, playing in the band, playing tennis and was the drum major his senior year. Afterwards, he attended Southwest Texas Junior College and graduated from Texas A&M University in 1955 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Range and Forestry.

After graduation, Padgett worked for the USDA Soil Conservation Service in Dalhart, TX for about 6 months then moved back to Uvalde. He went to work for Central Power and Light in July of 1956 and retired in October 1989. He also served in the Army Reserves for 6 years. Through the years he ALWAYS enjoyed a game of 42, fishing and hunting trips with family and friends and fixing up houses. He and Dabney operated Feed Store Antiques for many years. He enjoyed just sitting down and visiting with anyone and everyone, especially his friends at First Baptist Church.

He was predeceased by his parents, and wife Dabney Habermacher Montgomery.

Survivors include son Padgett Wayne Montgomery, Jr. and daughter Sherri Lane and husband Leo, and former wife Shirley. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren, Clayton (Holly) Lane, Taylor Lane (Gary) Jurado, Mia Montgomery (Dalton) Schroller and Capri Montgomery, and great-grandchildren Amelia Jurado, Elliott Jurado, James Lane and Stella Lane along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 9am on Tuesday, August 13 at Hillcrest Cemetery in Uvalde.
