Patricia Sturm

Patricia Sturm was the daughter of the late Lena Mae Sturm and Leo Francis Sturm. She was born on July 2, 1950.  She grew up in Crystal City, Texas and went to college at Texas A&I university in Kingsville, Texas. After teaching a year, she moved to West Lafayette, Indiana. She obtained a job at State Farm Insurance where she worked for 32 years, retiring in 2006.
Patricia, Patty, was a very devout Catholic. She loved to attend daily mass after she retired and looked forward to her weekly adoration visits. She enjoyed making rosaries, either on her own or with her Rosary Group and made thousands, sending them to missions all over the World.  She also enjoyed word puzzles, watching football and trips to casinos.  She was on a bowling league for several years and loved to snow ski. For many years, she made  trips out west, especially to Colorado and New Mexico where she and her friends would spend days skiing. She also enjoyed metal detecting and loved to share her discovered treasures. She cherished visits with her family in Texas and loved social gatherings with her many friends.   She was always quick to help anyone with anything that might need doing. Patty had a infectious smile and despite her illness, always thought of others and continued to encourage them and pray for them.
She is survived by her brother, Paul S. Sturm (and wife Brenda) of San Antonio, Texas, by her sister Jan Wooderson (and husband Sam) of Bryan, Texas along with 6 nieces and nephews. She never missed a chance to wish any of her family a happy birthday along with a gift of some kind. She is also survived by her “sisters” in her home of West Lafayette, Indiana who shared her many joys and sorrows of life. She will be sorely and lovingly missed.

She is preceded in death by her parents and grandparents, Samuel and Virginia Dickinson.

A rosary will be held on Monday, December 28, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.  Interment will follow at La Pryor Cemetery.
