Peter Steigerwald

Peter Stuart Steigerwald of Uvalde passed away on November 23, 2016 at his residence at the age of 83. He was born on February 10, 1933 in Houston to Walter Herman Steigerwald and Bertha Mary Margaret Gross Steigerwald. He married Shirley Anne Heard in Uvalde in 1955. She preceded him in death in 2015. He is survived by a son, Paul Steigerwald and wife, Shelley of Uvalde; and four grandchildren, Peter H. Steigerwald and wife, Sara of San Marcos; Phillip Steigerwald of College Station; Thomas Steigerwald and wife, Shannon of Rochester, NY; and Susanna Steigerwald of Germany. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brother, Walter H. Steigerwald, Jr.; sister, Mary Steigerwald Heard; and grandson, Jordan Steigerwald. A veteran, Mr. Steigerwald served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict, achieving the rank of E-5. For the majority of his working life, he was General Manager of KHCB FM, a non-profit Christian radio station in Houston. He served as pastor at the Reagan Wells Baptist Church and the Vance Baptist Church. He also taught Sunday School at First Baptist Church of Camp Wood. The family stated that Pete Steigerwald was deeply devoted to his wife and family. Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 28, 2016 at 10:00 AM at First Baptist Church in Camp Wood. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 PM at Hillcrest Cemetery in Uvalde. Pallbearers are, Peter Steigerwald, Phillip Steigerwald, Bruce Munsterman, Bill Cordell and David Moreno. Honorary Pallbearers are, Warren Alexander, Morris Young and Thomas Steigerwald. Memorial donations may be made to KHCB Houston Christian Broadcasters, 2424 South Blvd., Houston, TX 77098.
