Petra Avila

Petra S. Avila of Sabinal, Texas  passed away on January 25, 2021 at her residence at the age of 77. She was born on January 14, 1944 in Cerralvo, Nuevo Leon, Mexico to Francisco and Petra Gonzalez Silva. She married Silverio A. Avila on August 30, 1959 in Mexico.

She is survived by her two daughters, Noemi Avila of Sabinal, Texas and Monica Avila Talamantez and husband Ricky of Pleasanton, Texas; two sons, Armando Avila and wife Cristina of Uvalde, Texas and Allen Montalvo and wife Ana of San Antonio, Texas; one sister, Blanca E. Romero and husband Frank of Moore, Oklahoma; one brother, Rafael Silva of McAllen, Texas; eight grandchildren, Marco Antonio Hernandez of Hondo, Texas, Armando Hernandez of Hondo, Texas, Dylan E. Avila of San Antonio, Texas, Joshua Talamantez of Pleasanton, Texas, Matthew A. Avila of Uvalde, Texas, Ricky Talamantez Jr. of Pleasanton, Texas, Noah Talamantez of Pleasanton, Texas, Benjamin A. Avila of Sabinal, Texas; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews

She was preceded in death by her parents, Francisco and Petra Gonzalez Silva; husband, Silverio A. Avila; son; Ermin Silva Avila; daughter Maria Montalvo; brothers, Francisco Silva Jr., Roberto Silva, Jesus Maria Silva, Jesus Salinas, and Noe Salinas; and great grandchild Adric Jay Reyes.

Petra S. Avila was a strong, beautiful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many. She was an active participant in St. Patrick Catholic Church in the church choir and was a member of the Franciscano. She is and will always be loved and cherished dearly by all those whose lives she touched.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at 12:00 PM Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary in Sabinal, Texas a recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at 7:00PM. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at 10:00AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Sabinal, Texas, interment will follow at Sabinal Cemetery off of US HWY 90.

Pallbearers will be Allen Montalvo, Dylan E. Avila, Joshua Talamantez, Matthew A. Avila, Ricky Talamantez Jr., and Noah Talamantez.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Frank R. Romero , John A. Romero, and James M. Romero.
