Petra (Flores) Del Toro, 94, of Uvalde, formerly of La Pryor, died on February 10, 2016 at her residence. She was born on May 8, 1921 in La Pryor to Adela (Ortegon) and Serapio Tambunga Flores. She was a very loving and caring mother who enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, quilting, embroidering, and gardening. Her favorite flowers were roses and carnations. She married the love of her life, Luis F. Del Toro, Jr. on Septemer 8, 1947 in San Antonio. She is survived by four daughters, Maggie Del Toro and Maria Del Toro of Uvalde, Marta Del Toro of Austin, and Blanca E. Saldivar and husband, Rogelio of La Pryor; two grandsons, Greg Del Toro and Erik (Rosario) Del Toro, three great-granddaughters, Alina Marie, Aliya Marie, and Eliana Blanca Del Toro, all of La Pryor, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two sons, Javier Del Toro and Juan Luis Del Toro; one sister, Sara F. Rodriguez; three brothers, Guillermo Flores, Manuel Flores and Juan O. Flores. A rosary will be held on Saturday and Sunday at 7:00 PM at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, February 15, 2016 at 11:00 am at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with the Rev. Gustavo Ortega officiating. Interment to follow at La Pryor Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Greg Del Toro, Erik Del Toro, Bobby Flores, Manuel Flores, Serapio (Sonny) Flores, and Carlos Gonzales. Honorary pallbearer will be Rogelio Saldivar.
