Placido Fernandez Jr.

Placido A. Fernandez Jr. of Uvalde passed away at Methodist Stone Oak Hospital in San Antonio on January 25, 2017 at the age of 72. He was born September 9, 1944 in Uvalde, Texas to Dolores (Almendarez) and Placido Fernandez Sr.
He married Susie Sanchez on March 10, 1972 in Uvalde. He was a carpenter by trade for many years. According to his family he loved hunting, fishing, and had a great sense of humor.
Mr. Fernandez is survived by his wife of 44 years of Uvalde; four daughters; Rachel Fernandez and fiancé Pablo Morin, Rebecca Gutierrez and husband Jose Luis, Reana Fernandez and husband Jesus Garcia Jr. all of Uvalde and Roseana Fernandez-Zendejas and husband Alfredo of Seattle, Washington; four sisters, Erma Fernandez of Uvalde, Mary Helen Biera and husband Gilbert of Castroville, Rosalinda Fernandez of Brackettville and Pauline Gaytan of Uvalde; two brothers, Alberto Fernandez- and wife Henrietta of D'Hanis and Carlos Fernandez of Uvalde; seven grandchildren, Erika Jo Gutierrez, Matthew Joseph Gutierrez, George Arturo Juarez, Nayelli Azui Avila, Julianna Jo Gutierrez, Emilian Jesus Garcia and Elian Antonio David Zendejas; one great granddaughter, Macie Lynn Gutierrez; as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Mr. Fernandez is preceded in death by his parents, one sister Poala Fernandez and one brother Jesus Fernandez.
Rosaries will be held Friday, January 27, 2017, Saturday, January 28, 2017 and Sunday, January 29, 2017 at 7:00 pm at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. A Funeral Mass will held on Monday, January 30, 2017 at 11:00 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Uvalde with interment to follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.
Pallbearers for entering the church will be Matthew Joseph Gutierrez, George Arturo Juarez, Jesus Garcia Jr., Jonathan Garcia, Jose Luis Gutierrez and Alfredo Zendejas.
Pallbearers for exiting the church will be Juan Francisco "Paco" Alvarado, Jaime A. Martinez, Geronimo "Cala" Ruiz, Roman Rodriguez, Osvaldo Castillo and Genaro Luna.
Pallbearers for the cemetery will be Juan Antonio Rodriguez, Crescencio Rodriguez, Oscar Garcia, Roy Torres, Beto Garza and J. P. Ybarra.
Honarary pallbearers will be Ismael Sosa, Pablo Morin, Emilian Jesus Garcia, Elian Antonio David Zendejas, Tito Vasquez and Pat Phillips.
