Rafael Ugarte

Rafael “Mi Honey” C. Ugarte of Sabinal passed away on December 21, 2020 at Post Acute Medical Specialty Hospital in San Antonio at the age of 67. He was born on September 18, 1953 in Macdona, Texas to Abdon and Elena (Colunga) Ugarte.

He married Estella Martinez in Knippa on November 12, 1988.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years; brothers, Eloy Ugarte and wife, Irene of San Antonio and Daniel Ugarte and wife, Liz of Oklahoma; sisters in law, Sylvia Barajas and husband, Jose and Juanita Hill all of Casa Grande, Arizona; brothers in law, Jose Martinez and wife, Rosa of Knippa, Juan Martinez and wife, Gloria of Sabinal, Joe Longoria and wife, Angelita of Sabinal, Francisco Martinez and wife, Gloria of Sabinal, Jose Angel Martinez of Uvalde, Felipe Martinez of New Braunfels; nephew,  Luis Marcos Fernandez and wife, Rebecca and other numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will begin on Sunday, December 27, 2020 at 12:00 p.m. followed by a rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary in Sabinal.  A funeral mass will be held on Monday, December 28, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.  Interment will follow at Sabinal Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Luis Marcos Fernandez, Eloy Ugarte, Jason Cole, Kenneth Cole, Alonzo Martinez and Alfonso Martinez.
