Raul Rodriguez

Raul L. “Papo” Rodriguez, Sr. of Uvalde passed away on May 16, 2020 at his residence at the age of 88. He was born in Hondo on June 14, 1931 to Maria (Lopez) and Donicio Rodriguez. He married Bartola Rosa Garcia in Wautoma, WI on August 11, 1956. She preceded him in death in 1999. He is survived by a daughter, Marisela Ortiz and husband, Jose Luis of Uvalde; two sons, Raul Rodriguez, Jr. and wife, Linda of Mont Belvieu; and Ben Rodriguez and wife, Cheryl of Burleson; sister, Noemi Hernandez of Lubbock; 7 grandchildren, Jeffrey Rodriguez, Jeremy Rodriguez, Morgan Rodriguez, John Rodriguez, Delilah Ortiz, Jose Luis Ortiz, Jr., and Julian Ortiz; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife; son, Juan Alberto Rodriguez; three brothers, Benito Rodriguez, Rodolfo Rodriguez, and Reynaldo Rodriguez; and one sister, Pauline Zamora. A rosary will be held on Monday at 7:30 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary with burial to follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jose Luis Ortiz, Jr., John Rodriguez, Julian Ortiz, Dionicio Granado, III, Leroy Chapa, Sr., and Abraham Garza
