Ricardo Elizondo

Ricardo "Richard" Elizondo of Buda, Texas formerly of Concan, Texas passed away on December 13, 2021 at Seton Hays Medical Center in Kyle, Texas at the age of 53.

He was the youngest of 8 children born to Hugo & Bertha Elizondo.  He grew up in Concan, TX on the Elizondo family ranch and The Big Tree Ranch.  His father taught him the ways of ranch life, feeding and tending to horses, cattle, goats and chickens, mending fences and hauling hay.

He attended and graduated from Sabinal ISD, where he had many friends and where he met and fell in love with his wife of 32 years, Patricia.  During the early years they lived in Concan but eventually settled in Buda in 1996 where Richard started his 25 year career in the construction industry.  He was part of many projects in the Central Texas region and would proudly point out finished jobs.  The highlight of his career was starting 4E Construction Services LLC with his brother, Hugo Jr.  They had recently celebrated 10 years in business.

When he wasn’t working, he was coaching his sons’ soccer games, attending countless band concerts and dance competitions with his daughters.  He loved spending time with family, especially coming home to the ranch in Concan.  Hunting, fishing and swimming along the cool waters of the Frio River.  Easter celebrations, where he made sure the pinata was just within reach for the little ones to hit it.

He had lifelong friendships and never met a stranger.  He had a knack for giving out nicknames to his family and friends.  It was common for him to start a conversation with his sisters greeting them with “How are you darlin’”.

He loved reminiscing about the good old days, hunting racoons through East & West pasture with his father and brothers, halter breaking colts in the Spring, hauling hay in the summer heat, arrowhead hunting and the many fishing and hunting stories.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia, sons, Richard Lee Elizondo and Dylan (Ashley) Elizondo; daughters Gabriella & Isabella Elizondo and grandsons Riley & Braylen Elizondo all of Buda; mother in law, Glenda Hilsinger of Cortland NY, 5 sisters:  Nelva (Ricardo) Rodriguez of Temple, Norma Berrones of Uvalde, Lesbia (Marty) Northern of Wolfforth, Lidia (Bolo) Rodriguez of Dilley and Sulema (Romeo) Cabrera of Comfort; 1 brother, Hugo (Delia) Elizondo Jr of Blanco, brothers in law, John (Jan) Hilsinger of Temple and Allen (Jennifer) Hilsinger of Troy, sister in law, Dorothy Hilsinger of South Carolina and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

He is predeceased by his parents, Hugo & Bertha Elizondo, brother, Jose Luis Elizondo and father in law, Foster Hilsinger.

Pallbearers will be, Jose Ricardo Rodriguez, Carl Northern, BJ Rodriguez, Chris Elizondo, John Cabrera, Edgar Cuevas, Kyle Barfuss , Clint Arthur, Victor Scott and John Scott.

Visitation will begin on Monday, December 20, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. followed by a rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary.

A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
