Richard C. Lara of Uvalde passed away on March 9, 2018 at Amistad Nursing Home in Uvalde at the age of 89. He was born on July 9, 1928 in Uvalde to Facundo and Leonor (Chapoy) Lara.
He is survived by his daughters, Lupe Zavala and husband, Valente, Zulema Porras and husband, Sergio, Cecilia Jordan and husband, Michael; and Liza Lara all of Uvalde; sons, Richard Lara, Jr. and wife, Monica of Uvalde; sister, Janice Estrada of Uvalde; brothers, Frank Hidalgo and Ben Hidalgo, Jr. both of Uvalde; 9 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Josefa Ybarra Lara; parents; father, Ben Hidalgo; brother, Arnold Lara; sister Elida Gonzales; and great granddaughter, Gianna Salazar.
A rosary will be held on Monday at 7:00 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, March 13, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Mario Gonzales, Sergio Porras, Jr, Carlos Ovalle, Bryan Boggan, Fred Suarez, Sergio Alejandro Porras, John Suarez and Ruben Sanchez.
