Richard Reed

Charles Richard Reed of Uvalde passed away on February 14, 2016 at Uvalde Memorial Hospital at the age of 82. He was born on December 2, 1933 in McCoy, Texas to Charles and Iva Mae (Props) Reed. He married Elsie Taylor on August 20, 1955 at Calvary Baptist Church in Pleasanton, Texas. He and Elsie attended Northside Baptist Church where they were faithful members. He was the owner and operator of the Uvalde Dairy Queen for over 50 years. He is survived by his wife of 60 years; daughter, Debbie Kirkham and husband Gary of Uvalde; son, Clifford Reed and wife Kim of Hondo; grandchildren, Taylor Kirkham, Cameron Reed, Blake Reed, and Emily Reed. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Justin Hart and Norvill Hart; and sister, Betty Rae Kay.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Cameron Reed, Blake Reed, Taylor Kirkham, Emily Reed, Robert Padgett, and Jack Padgett. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of Northside Baptist Church, Garland Armstrong, Lupe Nolasco, Walter Harrington, Lonnie Horton, Sherman Mumme, James Ham and Dick Geries,
