Robert and Joycie, Joyce Raines, as Uncle Robert called her, had a special bond and enjoyed wonderful times together since her dad Frank was over seas when she was born. Robert had a special love for animals, especially his dogs. His favorites were George, Emily, Tippy, Soup Bone, and Ring. Nieces and nephews will never forget Robert bringing all 12 hound dog puppies into the living room, retrieving in
idual shoe boxes from Adells closet for each puppy a bed, and allowing the puppies to be played with all day long. The horses were also allowed in the yard after a ride on a hot summer day. Robert enjoyed and took pride in his Jersey Cows and Texas Longhorns.

Robert was a life-long rancher and owed and operated auction barns in Hondo and Uvalde for 40 years. He ranched in numerous counties including, Uvalde, Medina, Maverick, Real, and Zavalla.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Uvalde. He enjoyed his Mens Sunday School Class taught by Jack Scott.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, one sister, Clara Bell Koch of Hondo, TX, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lizetta and Henry Burger, one sister, Alein Burger, and two brothers, Melvin Burger and Stanley Burger.

Pallbearers are Jimmie Raines, Jesse Ray Burger, Bruce Saathoff, David Burger, Johnny Martinez, and Todd Heilig.
