Robert Mckinney

Robert Ray McKinney of Uvalde passed away on August 9, 2009 in Uvalde Memorial Hospital at the age of 62. He was born on November 1, 1946 in Edinburg, TX to William Morris and Marilou Isabel Jewett McKinney. He graduated from Victoria High School in 1964 and received his MBA from Sam Houston State University in 1970. He retired from SWTJC in 2008 after 38 years of service. Bob was very passionate about photography, hunting, the stock market, and cars. He married Dorothy Ann Tipton, known as Ann, on August 3, 1968 in Victoria, TX. He is survived by his wife of 40 years; sister, Karen Meyers of Houston; aunt, Javonne Von Tress of Oklahoma; cousins, Susan Von Tress of California, Melynda and Vali Lupu of Romania; Edward and Dawn Von Tress of Oklahoma and their children, Joshua and Matthew Von Tress; mother-in-law, LaVerne Todd of Beeville; father-in-law, James L. Tipton of Edna; and brother-in-law, Randy Tipton and wife, Linda of Edna, TX. A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 14, 2009, at 10:00 AM at the Rushing-Estes-Knowles Chapel. Rev. Don Tumlinson will officiate. Cremation was under the direction of Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial donations be made to the American Heart Association; the American Diabetes Association; Robert McKinney Memorial Scholarship Fund, co SWTJC, 2401 Garner Field Rd., Uvalde, TX 78801; or to the charity of one's choice.
