Roberta Devella Gass

Roberta Devella Hobbs Gass age 94 went to be with the Lord on February 19, 2024.

 Visitation will be held on Friday, Feb. 23, 2024, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary.  

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2024, at 2 p.m. at Hillcrest Cemetery.  

 She was born in Barksdale, Texas to Otto Robert Hobbs and Velma Beatrice Fogle Hobbs on February 2, 1930.

Roberta met Paul lrvin Gass, Sr. when she was 16 years old and he was 20, they fell in love and married on March 24,1946 at the home of Paul's sister, Edna Aten.

 Roberta and Paul were married for 68 years before he passed away in 2014.

 Roberta was a devoted Christian; she loved her family and friends deeply, she was a great cook, her pecan pies were the best ever eaten, and she also loved to work in her flowers and yard.

She leaves behind a great legacy of family, daughter, Paula Gass Gilleland and husband, Leslie of Sabinal; son,  Mike Gass and wife, Desiree of Uvalde; grandchildren, Shea Gilleland and husband, Junior, Tammi Burris and husband, Corey, Wesley Gilleland, Paul Gass, Ill and wife, Cody, and Coby Gass; great grand- children, Robbie Rodriguez Ill and wife, Christina, Paige Gilleland, Hailey Gilleland, Karlee Contreras, Kamryn  Contreras, Joseph Contreras, Julianna Contreras, Memphis Gilleland, Dillon Cuppes and wife, Kristin, Leann Cuppes, Leslie Cuppes and husband,  Mark, and Taylor Gass; great- great grandchildren, Aubri Rodriguez, La'lee Rodriguez, Kay'lee Rodriguez, Robbie Rodriguez, IV, Zayden Rodriguez, Kayden Jones, Payten Gilleland, Baylin Martinez, Ella Wilson, Tripp Wilson, Paisley Burris Ryder Burris, Tatium Cuppes, Tilden Cuppes, Temple Cuppes, Kinslee Cuppes, Hunter Cuppes, Oaklynn Cuppes, Hartley Cuppes, and Ian Wiekamp;  numerous nieces, nephews, her First Baptist Church friends and special lifelong friends Rock Hibbitts and Pete Simpson.  

 Roberta is preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Paul Irvin Gass, Jr.; sisters and brother-in-laws, Zrayda Jean Rushing and husband, Lon, Oveta Felicia Hobbs, Alerta Othelia McCarty and husband, Jerry, and Estella Mae Green and husband, Bobby.

 Pallbearers will be Cody Burris, Kyle Burris, Coby Gass, Joseph Contreras, Paul Gass, III and Dillon Cuppes.
