Rosa Cardona

August 21, 1947 — June 22, 2017

Rosa Cardona of Batesville passed away in Amarillo on June 22, 2017 at the age of 69. She was born August 21, 1947 to Maria (Quevedo) and Frank "Pancho" Cardona. She married David Trevino Sr. in Batesville on December 28, 1965.
Mom was a member of St. Hyacinths Catholic Church in Amarillo, Texas.
She worked as a caregiver for the elderly for over 35 years before finally retiring.
Retirement included many casino trips and playing slot machines as much as she could, sleeping and eating was optional. The only thing she loved more than slot machines were her beloved Dallas Cowboys and her Texas Rangers. For a while, she had us believing that Roger Staubach was "our daddy".
Her eyes shined and her spirit glowed walking in to Dallas Cowboy stadium both new and old and Texas Rangers ballpark. She was an avid sports fan but football and baseball were her absolute favorites.
Mom absolutely adored her grandchildren. She had her own special love for each one of them. They were perfect in her eyes and nobody dared to say different.
Mom lived a long prosperous life. She touched many people and added her own sparkle to everyone's life that she met.
Family was so important to her far and near. She always said, "Never forget where you come from," and "Never lose sight of what's important and be happy!"
Rest easy mom! We love you. Until we meet again.
She is survived by her children, David Trevino and wife, Mirella of Batesville, Sonia Trevino and husband, Troyce of Amarillo, Cristina Alvarado and husband, Osmar of Denver, Colorado, Stephanie Frausto and husband, Tino of Amarillo, Sonny Guerrero of Denver, Colorado and Joe Camacho of Amarillo; god daughter, Patricia Rodriguez; sister, Betty Duran of Chicago, Illinois; brothers, Margarito "Peggy" Cardona, Eduardo Cardona and Rafael Cardona all of Chicago, Illinois; 19 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren; sister in laws, Guadalupe Trevino of Batesville and Martha T. Cantu of Batesville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Connie Trevino, sons, David Trevino Jr. and Ronnie Trevino, brothers, Frank Cardona and Mariano Cardona and sister, Hermina "Minnie" Cardona.
