Ruben Flores Hernandez of Modesto, CA, formerly of Uvalde, passed away on March 20, 2020 in California at the age of 36. He was born on July 26, 1983 in Uvalde to Sylvia (Flores) and Luis Martin Hernandez. Ruben grew up in San Antonio, TX and was known for being extremely intelligent, receiving numerous academic awards. He was a lover of music and was heavily involved with vocal music from middle school all the way until graduating high school. He was very quiet and a man of few words, but when he spoke it was either extremely profound or a light hearted joke. He moved to Modesto, CA in 2015 where he enjoyed biking to work and the sunny California lifestyle. Ruben enjoyed cooking (Chinese and Mexican dishes), playing video games, computer programming, reading, and music. He was always a bright shining star and will be greatly missed. He was the kindest soul and is now with our Father singing Hallelujah. He is survived by his mother, Sylvia Madrid of Uvalde; sister, Stephanie Westerfield and husband, Brad of Center Point, TX; uncles, Luis G. Flores of Uvalde and David Hernandez of Hondo; and cousins, Rose Angela Torres and Christy Mendoza, both of Uvalde. He was preceded in death by his father, Luis Martin Hernandez; step-father, Arthur Madrid; paternal grandparents, Tomas and Paulina Hernandez; and maternal grandparents, Luis and Rosa Flores. Pallbearers will be Ernest Carballada, Jr., Frank Carballada, Joe Flores, Felipe Flores Romo, Brad Westerfield, Josh Clark, Juan Torres, and Jacinto Casares.
