Ruby Horner

Ruby Louise Horner of Uvalde passed away on May 24, 2009 in Uvalde Memorial Hospital in Uvalde, Texas at the age of 81. She was born on January 13, 1928 in San Antonio, Texas to Claude J. and Ruby Kelley. She married George Horner on April 23, 1949 in Uvalde, Texas. She is survived by her husband of 60 years George Horner of Uvalde; three daughters; Louise Hundahl and husband Ernest of Houston, Texas; Kathy Wright and husband Jim of Houston, Texas; Linda Moore and husband Dr. Robert Moore of Houston, Texas; son; George Horner Jr. and wife Suzanne of Port Aransas, Texas; grandchildren; Megan Jean Hundahl, Kelley Suzanne Hundahl, George Horner III and Cherilyn Horner. She is preceded in death by parents and brother Claude Kelley Jr. Ruby was loved by her family and friends. She was involved in many organizations and activities including the First Baptist Church of Uvalde where she was a Sunday School teacher, Girl's Auxiliary leader, and counsellor for Alto Frio Baptist Encampment. For over thirty years, she was a faithful member of an interdenominational prayer group which she attended weekly and which was an important part of her walk with the Lord. She was a long-standing member of the Uvalde Garden Club and Uvalde Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Ruby was an excellent bridge player and enjoyed playing with her many friends. She and George were founding members of the Frio River Beach Club and spent many happy Sunday afternoons with friends floating the Frio River. The family would like to thank Ruby's many wonderful caregivers, neighbors, and friends who have helped her through her final years. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at 2:00 PM in First Baptist Church in Uvalde, Texas with burial to follow in Hillcrest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Uvalde Memorial Hospital Regional Cancer Care Medical Center.
