Rufina Marín Ramos 95, of Uvalde, formerly of Midland, Texas, died on Jan 5, 2024, at her residence, surrounded with love in the company of her family.
Visitation will be held on Jan. 10, 2023, from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, January 11 at 2 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church and interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.
She was born on Feb 29, 1928, to Magdalene (Heredia) and Gregorio Marin.
As a child during the Great Depression, WWII and orphaned at age 15 she developed a keen sense of perseverance, money management and resiliency. A warm welcoming women that would always lend a helping hand to both family and friends.
Her love was shown through her passion to cook for her loved ones. At any time of day she would give a warm welcome with a home cooked meal.
Sadly, she lost her loving husband Carlos L. Ramos. Although, she spent her remaining years bed bound she kept her care takers on their toes with her many antics and requests, as well as kindnesses.
A devoted wife, mother and Catholic, despite all the adversities that she encountered, she always looked to God for strength and determination. The greatest loves of her life were her parents, husband, children, art, learning new skills, her cafecito (coffee), Orange Sunkist. She enjoyed shopping, sunflowers, collecting rocks and painting any and all things. Not to mention her novelas.
Her legacy of gentle affection, generosity of love, devotion to faith, and commitment and loyalty to family will be dearly missed.
She is survived by two daughters, Amelia Guadalupe Ramos and Petra (Pat) Patricia Ybarra and husband, Arturo all of Uvalde; two sons, Carlos Arturo Ramos and wife, Rita and Roberto Marin Ramos all of Uvalde; sister, Josepha Marin Esparza of Uvalde; nine grandchildren; Clarissa M. Ramos, Patricia M. Ramos-Miranda and husband, Joseph, Vanessa R. Briones and husband, Presiliano, Priscilla Romo-Perez and husband, Carlos, Rovey M. Ramos, Carlos R. Ramos, Robert M. Ramos Jr., Nina K. Ybarra and Patrick A. Ybarra; ten great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Carlos Lopez Ramos, two sisters, Fausta Heredia, Juanita Heredia Marín and three brothers Jorge Heredia Marín, Eduardo Heredia Marín, and Antonio H Marín.
