Sam E. Allen of Rio Frio, Texas entered his heavenly home on March 8, 2021. He was born on July 25, 1935 to Elmer Clyde and Elsie Mary Reissner Allen in Luling, Texas.
Sam spent most of his life devoted to the love of his life, Bo Allen, and recently celebrated 66 years of marriage. He spent most of his life in Uvalde, owning and operating Sam’s Exxon Service Stations where he and Bo provided exceptional service to their faithful customers for many years. Sam worked for thirty years at the Southwest Livestock exchange for Joe Hargrove. He never missed a cattle auction day, except once to attend the funeral of Jack H. Patterson.
Sam was an active member of the Uvalde Youth Activity Association; he loved watching all of his grandchildren perform in any and all activities. He was a faithful follower of Chase’s baseball career, from Little League to Baylor; one of the highlights of Sam’s life was watching Chase play at the College World Series.
Our beloved “Pop” loved everyone: his children, his friends, his children’s friends, his customers and most of all his wife, Bo. They set an example of what a happy marriage was, totally devoted to each other and to their family. Sam was all about what was good, kind, and caring.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Bo; children, Becky (Randy) Gerdes, Ginger (WB) Patterson, and Dany (Nancy) Rimkus; grandchildren, Sami (Blake) Harris, Chase (Ashley) Gerdes, Cuatro (Kendall) Patterson, Jack (Kathy) Patterson, Sheryl (Jim) Wilson, Brett (Renee) Rimkus, Leslie (Pat) Lonsdale, Ashley (Paul) Gustowski, Lauren (David) Pereyra, Hunter (Elizabeth) Brunk; twenty-five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Elmer Clyde and Elsie Mary Reissner Allen; three brothers, E.C. “Slim” Allen Jr., Tommy Allen, and William “Dub” Allen; and three sisters, Ida Bell Bridges, Betty Jo Allen, and Elsie Helen Pruitt.
