Sean Stern Bonnette

Sean Luke Stern Bonnette, 27 of Alexandria, Virginia formerly of Uvalde, Texas passed away on Wednesday, February 24, 2021.  Sean Luke was born on May 19, 1993 in Texas City, Texas.

Sean Luke is survived by his parents, Shane Bonnette and wife Tina of San Antonio, Rebecca Offner and husband Donald; sisters, Stephanie Hurt and husband Morgan, Ashley Hale and husband Brandon all of Uvalde, Deanda Pine and husband Robbie of New Braunfels; nephews, Jackson Sanford, Manny Hale, Miles Hale, Parker Hurt, James Pine, and Garner Pine; nieces, Mackenzie Erickson, Emry Ruth Hale, and Elle Pine; partner Brendan Dukes of Alexandria, Virginia, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Sean Luke treasured his relationships with his family and partner and adored his nieces and nephews.  He will be forever missed and remembered as someone who lived with determination and hope for the future.  He was a true friend and was always willing to do whatever it took to be there for many.  Those who know Sean recall the sheer pleasure of his company, how good he made them feel, how free they were to be themselves around him, and how much they will miss him.  Sean Luke truly cared about people and loved them for who they were.  His dream was to help youth who had experienced trauma and addiction.  His heart was to reach young people who were hurting.  Sean Luke enjoyed spending time hiking, needle point, trying new things and seeing new places, playing with his nieces and nephews, building a life and making plans for the future with Brendan and most of all, being with his best friend, his mom. Her very own, “love bug”.

Due to a disease, the light of a funny, intelligent, kind-hearted spirit was taken from our lives by a senseless and relentless drug.  Our family asks that you realize that no one is immune to this epidemic that has invaded our culture.  We fought as hard as we knew how to help Sean Luke, especially our precious mom. Our constant hope of his recovery was dashed so senselessly and is devastating.  We must fight hard against these drugs, prevalent everywhere, because they defile the brain’s ability to make sound decisions in order to save one’s life.

Due to the sacrifice of what Jesus Christ did for us on the Cross, we can rest in knowing that we are not fighting this battle alone.  We are taking comfort in knowing that Sean dedicated his life to Jesus and accepted Him as his personal Lord and Savior.  We look forward to and long for the day when God will wipe away every tear from our eyes, and death shall be no more.  Our only peace is in knowing that Jesus’ sacrifice was enough.

The moment our little brother came into the world he became all of our favorites, especially our mom who will gladly admit it.  Due to being the only boy and the baby, Sean Luke was trained from an early age on how to sleep in, enjoy many hours of endless TV shows, and participate in retail therapy with our mom.  Thankfully, Sean Luke was able to master them all.  When Sean Luke was not busy lounging with our mom and being waited on by our beloved stepdad, Donny, he dabbled in his career of being a long-term college student.  Sean Luke always prioritized his skin care regimen, his wardrobe, and making sure his teeth were as white as they could be.  Many hours were dedicated to color coding his closet and organizing every nook and cranny.  Most importantly, Sean Luke was committed to spending time with all our children and he would joyfully play any game and gladly take countless selfies.  As his sisters, we will truly miss being annoyed by him and cannot wait to hug him and baby him to our heart’s content.

Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 5, 2021 followed by a ceremony at 4 p.m. at Rushing Estes Knowles Funeral Home.  A reception will be held immediately after at the Commissioners Auditorium at the Uvalde County Fairplex.  Burial will take place on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at 11 a.m. at the family ranch in Concan, Texas.
