Severo J. Contreras, Sr.

Severo J. Contreras, Sr., 91, of Hillsboro, Texas, formerly of Knippa, Texas passed away at his residence. 

Visitation will begin on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at 3 p.m. and a rosary at 7 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. 

A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, September 12, 2024, at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. 

Interment will follow at Knippa Catholic Cemetery. 

He was born on November 8, 1932, to Alonzia (Jalomo) and Manuel Contreras. 

He married Cruz Vasquez on March 21, 1950, in Knippa, Texas. 

He is survived by his daughter, Barbara Juarez, and husband, Mark of Hillsboro; two sons, Severo Contreras, Jr. and wife, Sara of Huntsville, Alabama, and Sam Contreras and wife, Mary of Knippa; sister, Maria Rodriguez of San Angelo; 13 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife; four sons, Jimmy Contreras, Johnny Conteras, Tony Contreras, and Mark Contreras; sister, Candida Contreras; and brother, Ramon Contreras. 

Pallbearers will be Stephen Contreras, John Contreras, Donicio Contreras, Mark Contreras, Jr., Jimmy Contreras, and Jalen Contreras.
