Shirley Moore, 83, of Abilene passed away on September 27, 2023 in Abilene, Texas.
Visitation will be from 6-8 pm on Wednesday October 4th at The Hamil Family Funeral Home. There will be a graveside service on Saturday, October 7th at 1:00 pm at the Waresville Cemetery in Utopia, Texas.
Shirley was born in O'Neill, Nebraska to Ann and Arthur Turner on May 18, 1940. She attended Sacred Heart Catholic High School in Norfolk, Nebraska.
After graduating from high school, Shirley moved to Los Angeles, California where she met Dave Moore, a Los Angeles police officer. They married in 1962. Later they moved to Utopia, Texas for a few years, before settling in Uvalde, Texas where Shirley was a hairdresser and loving mother.
In 1980, after Dave passed away, Shirley moved to Abilene, Texas. She resided there until passing. She worked at Arrow Ford for 26 years and retired at the end of June. Shirley was known for being a caring and fun-loving friend, and she considered her friends to be a second family.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Ann and Arthur Turner, husband, Dave Moore, and brother, Jim Turner.
Shirley is survived by son, Tom Moore and wife Cyndi of Waxahachie, Texas, daughter, Kelly Wright and husband Dewane of Big Spring, Texas, grandson, Hunter Moore and wife Alyssa, granddaughter, Kynsi May and husband Sheldon, grandson, Judson Wright, and great-grandchildren: Maverick and Meadow Moore, and Baby May due in December.
