Sid Murray Mauldin, Sr. of Utopia passed away on May 23, 2020 at his residence at the age of 93. He was born on July 6, 1926 in Utopia to Mariella (Wentworth) and J.H. Mauldin.
Mr. Mauldin served his country in the U.S. Army Air Force during WWII. He married June Hans in Utopia on June 21, 1947. He was a member of the Utopia United Methodist Church, Lions Club, and Masonic Lodge in Utopia. He owned Utopia Lumber Co. since 1960 and was a farmer and rancher in the Utopia area. He enjoyed roping with his buddies, golfing, and hunting.
Mr. Mauldin is survived by his wife of 72 years, June Mauldin; two sons, Sid Murray Mauldin, Jr. and Robert Mauldin, Sr. and special friend, Patricia Brent; and daughter-in-law, Cindy Mauldin, all of Utopia; five grandchildren, Robert Mauldin, Jr., Jena Smothers, Thomas Mauldin, Marisa Hathorn, and Corrie Foster; and numerous great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Tom Mauldin.
Graveside services will be held on Monday, May 25, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Vanderpool Cemetery. Rev. Chuck Crane will officiate. Pallbearers will be Robert Mauldin, Jr., Thomas Mauldin, Ron Smothers, Riley Smothers, Conner Mauldin, Chase Hathorn, and Mack Foster.
