Silvestre Lopez Orona, age 89, passed away on November 13, 2021. He was born in Sabinal, Texas to Eugenio Orona, Sr. and Margarita Lopez Orona on November 26, 1931.
He Served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was stationed at the DMZ during his tenure there. He was a loving, dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather to a loving, blended family. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Uvalde, Texas and over the years served the church and school in various capacities. He was also actively involved with the Sacred Heart Boy Scout Troop.
He had a passion for music, he loved to dance, sing and play the guitar. He was a hard worker and took pride in everything he did, especially running his own janitorial service. He developed many relationships with his customers and counted several of them as close friends after retiring.
He is survived by his wife; Oralia Pena Orona, two sons; Silvestre Orona, Jr. and wife, Irma Jo of Corpus Christi, Texas, Oscar Orona and wife, Jessica of Uvalde, Texas, four daughters; Connie Rubio and husband, Luis of Uvalde, Yesenia Flores and husband, Leo of Brackettville, Texas, Erica Ayala and husband, Jose of Batesville, Texas, Shavonne Ayala and and husband, Francisco also of Batesville, seventeen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife; Guadalupe Guevara Orona, brothers; Samuel Orona, Eugenio Orona, Jr., Encarnacion Orona, and Angel Orona
Pallbearers will be Silvestre Orona, III, Michael Oscar Orona, Alejandro Carrasco, Ismael Orona, Felix Rubio, Joseph Ayala, Joel Ayala and Davian Dominguez.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ezra Dominguez, Don Tumlinson, Noah Oscar Orona and Silvestre Orona, IV.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 18, 2021 at 9:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at 4:00 PM with a Rosary starting at 7:00 PM at Rushing-Estes-Knowles in Uvalde, Texas
Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.
