Stonewall Jackson Carson, Jr. of Utopia passed away on May 24, 2009 at his residence at the age of 88. He was born on September 8, 1920 on the Rothe Ranch in D'Hanis, TX to Stonewall Jackson and Virginia Augusta Prince Carson. He married Cleo Williams on August 23, 1941 in Uvalde, TX. He is survived by his wife of 67 years; sister, Lucille Arthur of Marble Falls, TX; daughters, Beth Franklin and husband, George of Uvalde; and Rebecca Douglas and husband, Gene of Utopia; son, Michael Joe Carson of Duson, LA; grandchilden, Leslie Shoemaker and husband, Doug of Cleveland, MS; Cheryl Kay White and husband, Kendall of Uvalde; Jerud Douglas of Wolf City, TX; and Nevin Carson of Lafayette, LA; great-grandchildren, Britten Shoemaker and Annslie Shoemaker, both of Cleveland, MS; and Carson Kay White to be born on July 13, 2009. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Agnes Perkins, Winnie Smith, and Gertrude Berry; and brothers, Richard Joseph Carson and Joseph Jackson Carson. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2009 at 10:00 AM at the First Baptist Church in Utopia with burial to follow in the Waresville Cemetery. Mr. Charles Paul Stephens will officiate. Pallbearers will be Jerud Douglas, Kendall White, Dan Eason, Cheryl Kay White, Leslie Shoemaker, Robbie Rentch, John Davis, and Ray Tampke. Honorary pallbearers will be Doug Shoemaker, Nevin Carson, Britten Shoemaker, and Annslie Shoemaker. Memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church, General Fund, PO Box 240, Utopia, TX 78884; or to the charity of one's choice.
