Teresa Serna

Teresa Galvan Serna, age 79, went peacefully to be with the Lord Sunday, January 14, 2018. Teresa was born in Crystal City, TX on December 4, 1938. Teresa married Ernesto Serna on January 8, 1965 moving to Uvalde, TX shortly after. Teresa's passion in life was helping others. She worked for many years managing doctors' offices but is most remembered for her work with Dr. Guice. Teresa, along with Sister Hortencia Coloma, created St. Henry de Osso Family Literacy Project helping low income families bring reading into their homes. She loved her rose bushes, her sweet treats & especially spending time with her grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents Francisco & Carmen Galvan, siblings Guillermo, Carmen, Francisco & Minerva. She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Ernesto Serna, daughter, Susana and fiancé Joel of Uvalde, son Ernesto Jr. and wife Carol of Castroville and son Armando and wife JoNeen of San Antonio. Grandchildren Karen & Diego. Siblings Maria Luisa Sifuentes, Jose Luis Galvan & Rebecca Perez, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A rosary will be held on Tuesday, January 16, 2018, at 7:00 p.m., at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Roland Perez, Rey Perez, Jr., Ricardo Perez, Jesse Garcia, Fred Muniz, Jr. and J. R. Broils.
