Thomas Adolphus Harwood, age 83, passed away on December 9, 2019, in Uvalde, Texas. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Amy Lynn Harwood Walker and Kenneth Andrew Walker of Tehachapi, California, and his son and daughter-in-law, Kelley Thomas Harwood and Allatia Westbrook Harwood, of Omaha, Nebraska, grandchildren Katherine Elizabeth Walker Myers and her husband Eric of Moscow, Idaho , Anne Caroline Walker of Riverside, California, Moira Beth Walker of Tehachapi, California, McKinney Fairbanks Harwood of Nashville, Tennessee, and Elizabeth Davis Harwood of Athens, Georgia, and great-grandchildren George Jeffrey Myers, Andrew Everett Myers, and Felicie Jane Myers as well as his sister and brother-in-law, Mary Ann Harwood Arnim and Cecil Arnim, II of Uvalde, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Adolphus and Mary Grant Harwood and his brother, Crosby Hill Harwood. Tom was born on April 13, 1936 in Austin, Texas. He graduated from Texas A & I University with both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in physics as well as Southern Methodist University with a degree in law. As a member of the Texas Bar Association, he worked several years for Texas Instruments before transitioning into his private practice. During subsequent years, he served as the interim county judge in Hays County and the last 30 years in private practice in Uvalde, Texas. He passed away peacefully on December 9, 2019 in Uvalde, Texas.
The family would like to thank those who helped provide care in Tom’s final years including long-time care giver Pat Moreno, the physicians, nurses and staff at Amistad Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, and Uvalde Hospice. A private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to Uvalde Hospice at 124 Royal Lane, Uvalde, TX 78801.
