Tom Vance Haby, Jr., 85, of Brackettville died Sunday, June 4, 2017. Tom was born September 19, 1932 in Uvalde, Texas to Tom Vance Haby and Sarah Crump Haby. He is survived by his son, Guy "Chip" Haby and his wife, Kasey Hall Haby, two grandchildren, Tillman Vance and Sarah Dean. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lee Kolinek, two brothers, Hayden Haby and Rymond Haby. Tom Haby attended school in Uvalde and graduated in 1950. He was a member of the 1949 Uvalde Coyote football team where he made and maintained lifelong friendships. After serving in the U.S. Army in Korea, he attended and graduated from Texas Tech University. Haby married Mary Lee Kolinek in Uvalde on June 26, 1959 and they celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary in 2009. Both taught school in Knippa, La Pryor and Terlingua. Later, he managed ranches for Hayden Haby and "Happy" Shahan. Graveside services will be held on Monday, June 12, 2017 at 10:00 AM in Uvalde Cemetery.
